Work Experience

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.

Apr 2023 - Present

Network Development Engineer

5G Operations and New Business Development Department (ICT BG)

Nanjing, Jiangsu, China

  • Drove the CBS billing product cloud-native architectural evolution. As a core team member, I with my team achieved the cloud-native migration for the billing product, transitioning the architecture from legacy VMs to a Kubernetes-based bare-metal platform. Reduced maintenance overhead by over 20% and shortened delivery cycles from months to weeks through containerization (Docker) and automated orchestration.
  • Lead the compatibility design and adaptation for other PaaS platforms. To ensure cloud-natived product compatibility in multi-cloud environments, I led the adaption design and development for major PaaS platforms based on K8S such as Tanzu and Openshift. By building a compatibility layer using generic cloud-native capabilities, I successfully resolved challenges from heterogeneity in networking, storage, and security policies.
  • Designed and developed product cloud-native DFX capability. Facing the maintainability and scalability requirements of such a large-scale CT systems, I got involved in designing and developing a suite of DFX capabilities, including database automated backup, applications helf-healing, and elastic scaling based on K8S HPA.

Summer Internship of Identifying DCTCP

Jul 2021 - Sep 2021

Student Member

Royal Institute of Technology

  • Write data processing scripts for a large number of packets. To obtain usable data, I washed the network packages and generated datasets in machine learning prephase.
  • Write scripts to visualize of packet characteristics. During the traffic feature analyze phase, I wrote scripts to visualize traffic features.

Intersatellite Communication Research

Jul 2019 - Aug 2019

Student Assistant

Beijing Jiaotong University

  • Assist the mentor to read the dissertation related to satellite communications. Search some instructions and data including TLE values. Import the Iridium's TLE value into an orbital model.

Research Experience

Project of implementing VPLS in P4

Jan 2021 - Mar 2021

Royal Institute of Technology

  • In course Advanced Internetworking II, I implemented VPLS using P4. Meanwhile, I write a Python script to achieve control plane for different topologies.
  • Independently achieve system design and programming.
  • GitHub Repository

Build up a Queue Website

Oct 2021 - Jan 2022

Team Leader

Royal Institute of Technology

  • In course Network Programming, I build up a queue webset. To achieve this project, we used SpringMVC with thymeleaf and MySQL. SSM framework were used to achieve RESTful style webpage.
  • Responsible for back-end development and database design.
  • GitHub Repository

Project to Implementing Network Topology as an ISP

Aug 2020 - Oct 2020

Royal Institute of Technology

  • Design a topology and config some virtual routers implementing several network services like OSPF, RIP and BGP.
  • Responsible for topology design and configuration.

Audio Identifying Project

Mar 2019 - May 2019

Team Leader

Beijing Jiaotong University

  • Completed a music identifying algorithm in MATLAB and packaged it into a completed program using App Designer, which kept outstanding performance in private tests.
  • Responsible for complete programming and packaging.

On the Effectiveness of BGP Hijackers That Evade Public Route Collectors

Alexandros Milolidakis, Tobias Bühler, Kunyu Wang, Marco Chiesa, Laurent Vanbever, and Stefano Vissicchio

Summary: This paper investigates the effectiveness of public route collectors against attackers who engineer BGP hijacks to evade detection. Our simulations show that carefully crafted hijacks can divert traffic from thousands of ASes without being observed by manipulating BGP route propagation to avoid specific monitors.

My Contribution: Conducted real-world BGP hijack experiments on a test network and analyzed the impact of different hijacking methods using real-world direct observation. And I also developed data visualization scripts to generate empirical analysis graphs of BGP hijacking behavior, providing key evidence for the paper's core arguments.

Investigating the Effectiveness of Stealthy Hijacks against Public Route Collectors: Is AS-Path Prepending Enough to Hide from Public Route Collectors?

Master Thesis

Summary: This thesis investigates whether hijackers can use AS-Path Prepending, a common traffic engineering technique, to evade detection by Public Route Collectors. The study explores the sufficiency of this method for achieving stealth, the predictability of its success, and the influence of non-hijacker-controlled parameters like geographical location.

My Contribution: As my Master's thesis, I with my supervisor Milolidakis, Alexandros and examiner Chiesa, Marco independently designed and conducted all experiments, data collection and analysis, and finished the thesis.
